Saving the Appearances in GR

When taking the classical limit of GR a constant is introduced in order to get the classical equation. I find that sketchy.  

I'm interested in this process of deriving the classical result from the more general theory. 

And why can't you derive QM from CM? If QM results from particles being small then why can't we just analyze what happens classically and all the measuring difficulties? 

There is no notion of "small" in CM. But that could be added.

The falling slinky and QM.

 The seemingly strange behavior of the falling slinky can be explained by referring to what the universe, at a particular point in spacetime "knows" versus what the universe, or person, at another point in spacetime knows.  The person knows that the slinky has been released before the bottom of the slinky knows.  QM is all about what the universe knows at various locations in spacetime. Sometimes and someplaces the universe happens to be a person.
